Our Story

Harbor Church was a dream that began in the late 70's when God saved a group of Dartmouth students and gave them a vision to plant new churches. As a result, a small group when to start a church at UNH, which grew to become Christ the King Church in Dover.
In the late 90's, a number of the church members felt God was leading them to plant a church in Portsmouth with a vision to see lives and communities transformed by the power of the gospel of Jesus. With the help of Christ the King Church and Newfrontiers, the group began meeting on Sundays once a month in Portsmouth in 2001.
By God's grace, our small group grew and a full time leader cam on board for the launch of the church in the fall of 2002. Since then, our numbers have continued to grow and we are seeing God do exactly what He said He would - transform lives and communities through the gospel. We have seen addicts, businessmen, homeless people, children and mothers all encountering God in our midst. We have set up a non-profit to serve those in need in our community called RESTORE61 and are passionate about serving the city through initiatives like REBUILD.
We moved from the middle school to the North Church building in Market Square, Portsmouth, in 2009 and are happy and thankful to be meeting in the historic building at the center of our community. We are looking forward to the next decade and all that God has in store for us!
