A Generation Mobilised
Young people in their twenties from across the United States flocked to St. Louis Missouri for the Mobilise conference this January. These people were seeking to hear God’s voice and to praise His Name with hundreds of others. They were not left disappointed as God moved powerfully that weekend through worship, prophetic words and the messages that were preached.
Over and over again, the theme of the weekend permeated every message that was brought – watch your life, watch your doctrine (1 Timothy 4:16). This piece of scripture was a call to this generation to practice what it preaches. If someone was to take a look at your life…would they realize you are a Christian? Are you merely paying lip service to a belief without actually putting it into practice?

Godlessness
Ever increasingly, this generation is being characterized by Godlessness and immaturity. Brian Mowrey in his sermon referenced Judges 2:10. A time when “there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD or the work that he had done for Israel.” A large portion of this young generation has NOT been raised with Biblical influence – and it shows! There is an increasing trend of immaturity; even among many raised in Christian churches! God’s spoken and written Word is being neglected in favor of degrees of maturity and Godliness. God’s standards haven’t changed, but the world around us falls farther and farther from them. Many Christians today might stand out amongst non-believers – but they are still falling farther and farther from what God has mandated.
For me Mobilise was refreshing and challenging at the same time! I was forced to evaluate what I believed and if that made any difference in my life. Why believe anything if it doesn’t affect us? Bo Noonan, (who brought the last sermon of the weekend), truthfully laid out that the Devil and his demons believe all the things we believe – we’re no different in that regard. However, we are called to work out those beliefs for our sanctification! We are not meant to learn all this head knowledge so we can take top scores in a Bible trivia contest. Rather, we are called to become more like Jesus, ever striving for His best in our lives to glorify God!
Growing towards maturity
Implied in that call for maturity was the great need for leaders to emerge and lead this generation back to God. Don’t disqualify yourself! Godly leaders are not born – they are grown as we obediently allow the Holy Spirit to lead us well. The natural outworking of adopting that attitude is someone who is faithful in the small things and who will soon be given responsibility in (and over!) larger things!
God really used the time at Mobilise to reveal things in my life that were keeping me from fully stepping into all that He has for me. I came away laid bare and once again pliable to His desires. The joy of my salvation was renewed and I am now hungrily chomping at the bit to work out what God has put in me!
